MEADOWLAWN LAKE

About Meadowlawn Lake

Meadowlawn Lake (sometimes called Viking Lake) in Saint Petersburg, Florida, provides a serene backdrop to Meadowlawn Park. The lake serves as a central feature for the neighborhood, offering residents a peaceful spot for relaxation and recreation. The surrounding park provides ample space for outdoor activities, including fishing, walking, picnicking, and bird-watching. The lake flows directly to local stormwater ditches tied directly to Tampa Bay, and is therefore more salty than most St. Petersburg lakes. Periodic cleanups led by SoUL with assistance from partner Keep Pinellas Beautiful have identified the importance of reducing debris flow to Tampa Bay. Building on this understanding, and with the assistance of the City, SoUL and local neighborhood association leaders installed a demonstration restoration project in May 2024 designed to showcase how native coastal plant species can beautify and improve the ecology of the lake shoreline. These and other ongoing efforts at other Meadowlawn lakes such as Mastry Lake and Lynch Lake reflect the community’s commitment to enhancing their lakes, which, in turn, help grow and sustain their neighborhood economy.
