JUNGLE LAKE

About Jungle Lake

Jungle Lake, nestled in the heart of Saint Petersburg's Jungle Prada neighborhood, is the scenic centerpiece of Walter Fuller Park, one of St. Petersburg’s cherished parks and home of the annual Green Thumb Festival. The 10-acre lake includes a wooded shoreline and two large, diverse “islands” directing stormwater through the waterbody, creating a lush oasis within our urban landscape. Visitors walking the 0.8-mile sidewalk trail experience a tranquil return to natural Florida. With three shaded overlooks, the lake supports wildlife observation, fishing and a wide range of park uses.

Community-driven initiatives have been instrumental in maintaining the health and beauty of Jungle Lake, ensuring it remains a thriving habitat for native flora and fauna and a safe and enjoyable experience for all park users. The neighborhood’s dedication to preserving this natural treasure highlights the strong environmental stewardship that defines the Jungle Prada area.

In 2023, with funding and technical assistance from the City of St. Petersburg and participation by neighborhood volunteers, SoUL and Keep Pinellas Beautiful began implementing the first phase of lake habitat and water quality improvement plan focused on installing native wetland shoreline plants and launching two demonstration floating wetland islands.

Jungle Lake is a 10-acre stormwater management pond within Walter Fuller Park in St. Petersburg Florida. The park is operated by the City of St. Petersburg (City) Department of Parks & Recreation, and the stormwater management system (i.e., the Lake and its inlets and outlet structure) are maintained by the City’s Department of Stormwater and Operations.
