LAKE PASADENA
About Lake Pasadena
Lake Pasadena, located in the charming Lake Pasadena neighborhood of Saint Petersburg, Florida, is a serene and beautiful freshwater lake surrounded by picturesque homes and lush landscapes. This tranquil lake includes a central island home to roosting wading birds and provides a scenic backdrop for outdoor activities such as fishing, and leisurely strolls along its shores while managing seasonal stormwater flows. Ongoing community initiatives focus on enhancing its natural beauty while the City works to reduce algae bloom potential and support the neighborhood’s commitment to environmental stewardship and quality of life.
On June 1, 2024, volunteers from the Lake Pasadena Neighborhood Association collaborated with SoUL and the City of St. Petersburg on a shoreline planting event. Over 600 wetland and transitional plants, including duck potato, soft-rush, pickerelweed, blue-flag iris, canna lily, and swamp milkweed, were installed along portions of the north and south shorelines. Given the wide range of water level fluctuation encountered in this lake (a common characteristic of urban lakes), follow up maintenance and planting will be conducted by volunteers under the direction of SoUL’s local Lake Champion. Restoration and water quality improvement actions will be planned in the future to improve water quality and enhance native plant diversity to the lake shoreline.
